    There were 2 battles that took place at El Alamein. The first one was when Rommel conquered it from the British. A few months later General Montgomery brought British armor back to El Alamein to finish off Rommel and his tanks.

    Iwo Jima was the final island the U.S. needed to take from Japan in order to send in bombing raids to Japan. They took it, but not without a ferocious fight from the Japanese soldiers inhabiting the small island.
