The Trail of Death Begins
Five days later, on September 4th, the march began with more than 850 Indians and a caravan of 26 wagons to help transport their goods. -
The First Death on the Trail
A baby died making it the first death. It died due to heat and lack of food and water. -
The Rivers
The Potawatomi crossed the Mississippi and entered Missouri. -
Father Petit
Father Petit(he was a young priest that assisted the tribe in helping them spiritually, by baptizing the sick and dieing) wrote a letter to a Baptist(that was not traveling the trail) about how awful the trave was. -

Father Petit's Death
Father Petit died due to sickness. He was a young priest that assisted the tribe in helping them spiritually.
