    Black Codes were passed
    Black codes were passed thorugh the Legislatures of the South to help control the newly freed Africians Americans. On the other side, these laws allowed Southern white men to take advatedge of African Americans. This was the South's way of trying to retatliate againest the North and keep using African Americans the wrong way.
  • Civil Rights Act

    Civil Rights Act
    On April 9th, 1866 The Civil Acts Right was passed. The Civil Acts Right gave teh Freedman's Bureau a higher place in which they created courts for people who violated the rights for the African American. Also, this law gave the Federal government rights to involved with state affaris againest Amrican Americans. This law was another step towards stopping slavery
  • Reconstruction Acts

    Reconstruction Acts
    The Confederates did not ratify the 14th Amendmen so the Uniion Congress flexed their musles more and passed the first and second Reconstruction Acts. The first act required all 10 defiant states had to form a goverment in which they didn't so what Congress did was split up those states into 5 military distrcits ran by General. The second part of the act involved the African Americans' right to vote which forced the South to join the North.

    The 14th Amendment was passed through Congress that stated no matter what race, religion, or condition if you were born in the United States you are considered a citizen. This added another step to the 13th Amendment.
  • 15th Amendment Passed

    15th Amendment Passed
    The reconstruciton period was over and Americans hoped for a new change in office in which Grant was elected. However, the 15th Amendment was passed which prohibited state and federal goverment to deny the rights of a voter based off of their unique qualities. The Reconstruction still was happening however,it was approaching its end.
