  • The Beatles performed in Australia

    Between 18-20 June 1964,
    Beatlemania arrived in Sydney. The Beatles was performed six times at the sydney stadium, rushcutters bay as part of a two week tour of Australia and New Zealand in 1964.
  • Colour TV came to Australia

    From 7 October in 1974 Australians began to see the colour change and it was broadcast on their televisions for five months. The colour television was launched in Australia, with every best network embracing the new amazing technology.
  • ABBA came to Australia

    Abba only ever toured in Australia once as playing 11 dates in 1977. The band members are now all doing well as the band is into their seventies and performed together in public in 1986 they did four more years before they officially disbanded in 1982.
  • Cricket goes to Channel 9

    The Wide World of Sports is a long-used title for Nine's sport of programming. It was also the name of a popular sport for the magazine program that was aired on most Saturdays and Sundays. This program filled many of the summer daytime hours. broad portfolio was in the program which was premiered at 1:00 pm on Saturday, 23 May 1981 and this is when cricket first started being broadcast on channel 9
  • Olivia Newton-John went Number 1 worldwide with ‘Physical

    Physical was released as the album on the lead single on 28 september 1981. The single is the most common successful solo hit of Olivia's career, and became her fifth and her final number one of the single on the Billboard Hot 100.
  • VFL becomes AFL

    In 1990, the national competition is resulted in the name change to an Australian Football League (afl). The current 18 teams are all based across the five states of all Australia; the majority (10) still remain in Victoria, nine of which are located in the Melbourne metropolitan located area.
  • Subscription TV came to Australia

    The first licence was issued to the Galaxy Television, which started in 1993 and provided services to most areas by 1995. Other major providers was included Foxtel, Optus Television and all of which were introduced in 1995. Subscription television allowed customers to have more access to channels.
  • Olympic Games held in Sydney

    Sydney was proud to host the 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games. These Games provided the world with some of the most greatest sporting games and entertainment events ever witnessed in the history of the Olympic and Paralympic Games of 2000.
  • Facebook was launched

    Facebook was founded back in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo maverin, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris hughes. All of them were attended students at Harvard University. Facebook became the largest social network in the world in with nearly 3.5 billion users as of 2021 and about half that number were using Facebook every day.
  • Youtube is Launched

    It was launched worldwide on February 14, 2005 by Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim. It is owned by Google and it is the second most popular visited website after google search. Youtube has more than 2.5 billion monthly users every day, who collectively watch more than one billion hours of videos each day in a year.
