Initiative, Recall and Referendum Amendment
Intiative is the power, reserved to registered voters, to propose new laws, amend existing laws, or propose charter or code amendments, by a petition process.
Referendum is the power, reserved to registered voters, to submit a petition to require the Mayor and Council to demand the reconsideration and repeal of a specific ordinance, except an emergency measure, before it becomes effective
Recall is the power, reserved to registered voters, to demand the removal of an elected official. -
17th Amendment
Provided for the direct election of senators rather than their selection by the state legislatures. State legislatures were also increasingly concerned about the welfare of their citizens. -

The 18th Amendment is passed prohibiting the sale and manufacture of liquor. -
