The United States was gaining land quickly and expanding its political power in a short period of time. The political power of the US grew significantly over time, while the political structure stayed the same once it was formed.

  • Revolutionary War Beings

    The Revolutionary war was between the United States and Britian. The United States was fighting for their freedom from Britian and to be their own country. This is a change over time because it lead to Britian losing power and United States expanding and becoming stronger and bigger. This relates to my thesis because it is the start of United States expanding and growing politically.

  • Declaration of Independence is written

    The Declaration of Indepdence was created by the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia on July 4, 1776. It announced that the 13 Colonies in the United States were free from Britian and British rule. This relates to the thesis because it shows the expansion of the US goverment. It's change over time because United States is growing and forming a government.

  • Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris ended the Revolutionary war between the United States and Great Britian on September 3, 1783 in Paris. The treaty created peace between the two nations and allies. This relates to the thesis because it shows an expansion of the United States and their political power. It's a change over time because there is no more war and the United States continues to grow.

  • Constitutional Convention

    The Constitutional Convention took place from May 25th to September 17, 1787 in Philadelphia. The conventional lead to the idea of the Constitution of the United States of America. This created a new goverment and removed the old one. This relates to the thesis because this shows that the US is expanding and political power and will keep this political structure to the present day. This is a change over time because the goverment changes and change how the country will run.

  • Constitution Ratified

    The Constituion that was created at the Constituional Convention was finally ratified about two years later and put into affect. The goverment takes on its new structure and continues to expand in power. This relates to the thesis because it shows the growth of the political powers of the US. It's a change over time because the political structure changes and will remain the same to present day.

  • George Washington elected president.

    George Washington was elected first president of the new goverment set up in the US. George Washington was also the Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War between Britian and US. This relates to the thesis because it shows the growth in political power. This is a change over time because it is a new president, whom will change over time to a new president, and the presidents will bring new expansion to the country.

  • Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase happened in 1803, when The United States purchased 872,000 square miles of land, west of the Mississippi River for $11,250,000. President Thomas Jefferson purchased it from France, when France was low in money and needed money fast. This relates to the thesis because it expands the land and power of the United States. It shows change over time because the United States has more room for expansion and future room for expansion towards the West more.

    Industrialzation started in the 1820's, but was very minimal, but over the years it grew greatly and spreaded across the country. Industrialization lead to the growth of the United States greatly, with new inventions and fantastic ideas to increase production and new products to trade. This relates to thesis because it shows the power the United States had and how powerful it was. This is a change over time because it greatly impacted the US and increased it's power and revenue.

    The American Civil War took place from April 12, 1861 to May 9th, 1865. It took place between the North and South in the United States. The North was called the Union and the South were the Confederates. The North ended up winning, keeping the country together. This war also lead to the end of slavery. This is a change over time, because slavery is abolished at the end. This relates to the thesis because it shows the political power of the United States and how it can keep the country together.

  • Emancipation Proclamation

    The Emancipation Proclamation was issued by President Abraham Lincoln on January 1st, 1863. This was during the civil war, 3 years in. This abolished slavery and allowed slaves to be free. This is a change over time because slavery is no longer here so plantations must find a new way to produce their products. This relates to the thesis because it shows the political power of the US and what is can do to solve issues.
