Early Life
Dominique grew up in Detroit, Michigan, where she still lives to this day, with her parents. She attended college at University of Michigan where she graduated with her BFA in acting. -
How Morisseau Got Started
When Dominique was in school, she was an actor also, however when she got to college there weren't any roles for her so she began writing plays instead. -

Dominique after college
After college, Morisseau moved to New York to peruse dance and did some performance poetry on the side. She soon gave up poetry when she saw herself feeling forced to sell it to make her rent money. She felt it was a chore and began playwriting instead. After that she joined the Emerging Writers Group at the Public Theater which sparked The Detroit Project consisting of three plays: Detroit ’67, Paradise Blue (2015), and most recently, Skeleton Crew (2016). -

Dominique Morisseau got married to Jay Keys in June 2013. He is also from Michigan but grew up in Southfield. -
