    When you reach Oregon at last, you claim some land, but it's covered in trees. First you build a log cabin, then you clear out the trees so you can farm.

    Pack up all of the things you need to go six months on your wagon, like food and tools.

    You should travel in "trains", or in groups of wagons at a time, because its less dangerous.

    Get to the front of the train to avoid all of the dust being stirred up by the other wagons. You will only be traveling at two miles an hour.
  • Wet And Sandstorms

    During storms, the wind rips the wagon covers off and blows away tents and the whole campsite is a sea of mud. During Sandstorms, you get sand in your face, sore eyes and puffy and split lips. The sand gets in your nose, throat,, in your food, bedding, and all over your clean clothes.

    They are fierce but can't bother you because they made an agreement with the U.S. If you pay the Indians a toll to get through, they aren't allowed to hurt you.
  • Stampede!

    The Indians rely on the buffalo for everything- they eat mostly just that and use their hides to make clothes and tents. The pioneers are killing a lot of them.
  • Mealtime- Feeling Queasy?

    Food can easily get spoiled and water can easily get contaminated- lots of pioneers die from food poisoning and Cholera.
  • Sink Or Swim- River Crossings

    Sink Or Swim- River Crossings
    Lots of pioneers drown from trying to cross rivers because they can't swim and there are no bridges. Sometimes there are fords, where the water is shallow enough to cross, but it's dangerous because strong currents could sweep a wagon the wrong way.
  • At The Fort

    There is a stop at Fort Laramie where you can buy more food, new clothes, replace your tired animals for new animals and you can all rest here.
  • Done In And Done For

    Your animals might get really tired and just fall over, they might have nothing to eat or nothing to drink.
