First photo-sensitive compound
Professor J. Schulze accidentally created the first photo-sensitive compound. He did this by mixing chalk, nitric acid, and silver in a flask. -
Joseph Nicephore Niépce is born
Joseph invented the process which allowed a projected image could be affixed to light sensitive material. Camera, biconvex lens, and diaphragm were shown in his work. He was able to produce a sharp negative onto silver chloride that would not fade soon after. -
Thomas Wedgwood is born
He proved that chemically transferring images of objects and pictures with light could be done. He used nitrate of silver on leather and white paper. The image he created wasn't permanent and would soon fade to black. -
First Photograph
Joseph Nicephore Niepce made the first photograph with a camera obscura. Sun prints were the prototype for the modern photography, using light to draw the picture. A engraving was placed onto a metal plate coated in bitumen and then exposed to light. -

The microlens array increased production of higher megapixel image sensors. A microlens array is a amall lens that helps each pixel of the image sensor to recieve light. This helps create higher resolution images. -

SHARP J-PHONE is released. It had a 0.11 megapixel camera. it allowed users to view the captured photos and send it electronically. -
Sony SLT-A55
Sony introduces the Sony SLT-A55 . It recieved reviews such as "50 Best Inventions of 2010" by Time Magazine. It has a 16.2 megapixel image sensor and the ability to capture images at 10 frames per second.
