    Adolphe Disderi developes "carte-de-visite" photography in Paris, leading to a world wide expansion in portrait studios for the next decade.

    Ducas de Hauron publishes a book proposing a variety of methods for color photography.
  • Government

    This was the center of a preiod in which the U.S congress sent photoaphers out to the west. The most famous pictures were taken by William Jackson and Tim O'sullivan.

    The first kodak camera is created. With twenty foot roll of paper.
