Reis Phone
The first phone was created on March the 7th 1876. When it first came out, it weighed 1.75 pounds, had 30 minutes of talk time, and cost $3,995. People stopped using it because the line was a crackly mess—prone to interference from nearby electrical lines. Also there were better phones after that. -
Telephone Booth
The first ever telephone booth was opened on January 12th, 1881 in Potsdamer Platz, Berlin. It normally costs $0.05 into the 1950s and $0.10 until the mid-1980s. Rates were standardized at $0.25 during the mid-1980s to early 1990s. The telephone booth is still used today but is not as popular as it used to be. -
Motorola DynaTAC 8000X
On April 3, 1973, Martin Cooper made the first ever cellphone call on the streets of New York. It cost $3995. It soon became obsolete due to the other phones with better advantages. -
IBM Simon
The first ever smartphone was made on August 16th, 1994, and was named IBM Simon. When it was released, it cost $1099. Due to the speed at which the cellular market was developing, the Simon was discontinued in February 1995. -
Motorola StarTAC
The first ever flip phone was the Motorola StarTAC, it was released on the third of January, 1996. The price of it began at $1000. It started to fall off when smartphones were introduced.
