    Imre Lakatos was a Hungarian philosopher of mathematics and science who contributed to the philosophy of science. The philosopher was born in Debrecen, Hungary, on November 9, 1922. Lakatos had a diverse academic background in mathematics, physics, and philosophy.
    He began his academic career at the University of Debrecen, where he studied mathematics and philosophy. He later attended Budapest and became a student of renowned philosopher and mathematician György Lukács.
