Firemen Grew the Game (Kitten Ball)
As a way to stay active during their down time, they expanded the game throughout the firefighter profession. They made a team named the Kitten's and it was then called Kitten Ball. -

The name was changed from Kitten Ball to Diamond ball by the Minneapolis Park Board. -

Walter Hakanson was a YMCA official and former ASA president and he came up with the name softball. -
World's Fair in Chicago
Fischer and Pauley organized the first tournament gathering 55 teams together. There were 3 divisions. Fastballers, slow pitch, and women. -
