The Band Forms
The band formed with the original name Charlie Everywhere. The duo, consisting of Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel, have been friends since high school. They both briefly went to college when they almost simultaneously realized school was just not their thing. Thus, the two formed a band. -
Change Name to Phantogram
The band signs with BBE, and they decide to change their name. Phantogram comes from the "opitical illusion I saw while I was walking out of the recording studio that very day," says Barthel. -
Practice Practice Practice
"We honestly did not do too much during the year 2008," laughed Sarah. "We just worked our asses off and tried to get our sound together. It was countless three-hour long practices in my garage and countless hours writing lyrics." -
Release First Studio Album
The band currently has two studio albums. Their first was released on this day titled "Eyelid Movies." -
Out on the Road With Minus the Bear
The band has had over 3 tours at this point, but their "greatest privilege tour-wise was being able to tour with Minus the Bear. They have been my favorite band for years," says Carter. The tour consisted of 16 shows all over the country. -
Second Self-titeld EP is Released
Phantogram has released 4 EPs total. Two of them are titled Phantogram. The others are "Nightlife" and "Running From the Cops." -
Song on "The Hunger Games" soundtrack
Their song "Lights" is featured on "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" soundtrack. "I am honestly not too big a fan of the movies, but I'm pretty stoked were on the soundtrack," laughed Josh. -
Play on Jimmy Kimmel Live
The band performed their song "Lights" on Jimmy Kimmel Live. They were both super excited but Sarah had some nerves. "I have never been so nervous in my entire life. I was never on live television before this show." -
The Killer 104.5 Summer Block Party Show
The band headlines 104.5's first Summer Block Party concert of the summer at the Piazza at Schmidts. They kill it on stage in front on thousands of people on a gorgeous day in the city of brotherly love.
