Date of Birth
-
Moved to England
This date is significant because I developed my very first memories while living in a small cottage in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. -
Began School in the US
This was more of a culture shock than my family and I anticipated both in terms of school and friendships. I struggled with the transition and a deep sense of mourning over our lives in England. -
Lost Pop-Pop
My mother's father was and still is one of the most influential people in my life. His passing, though it occurred while I was still quite young was significant for me. I still believe that he made a bigger impact on my life than any other person aside from my parents. -
Changed School/ Upped Ballet Lessons to 6 days a week.
This time in my life marks the beginning of my obsession and infatuation with ballet which, in turn, alters the entire course of my life. -
Turbulence Within the Family
Within weeks of my mother being diagnosed with stage four (metastatic) Inflammatory Breast Cancer, My father lost his job increasing an already tense family situation. -
Moved Away from Home
Moving out was a huge step towards independence and freedom for me. At age 18 I was offered my first job dancing professionally with The Cincinnati Ballet. This began my seven year career in dance. -
Decision to Return to the East Coast
This decision was made over the course of about a year. It began with a knee injury that was essentially career-ending. At this time, I was in California, dancing with The Sacramento Ballet, and I was not happy with my life. I missed my family, I missed the east coast, and I was ready to make a huge life change. -
Became Mrs. Downey
In January of 2016 I married my wonderful husband, Tyler. We met when we were nine years old at my "new school". He is an artist, a writer, and my favorite person. -
Today
Today, I am working in a wonderful school for children with special needs and learning differences. Tyler and I bought a house over the summer and I am thrilled to be going back to school.
