Pelé was born in Tres Coracoes, in the state of Minas Gerais, on October 23 1940. He was named after the inventor of the light bulb, Thomas Edison, however when his birth was registered, the clerk removed the letter “i”, making his name Edson.His name was Edson Arantes do Nascimento.Pele’s parents were Joao Ramos and Dona Celeste. The start of his career

A legend in the making
In 1958 when pele was just 17 years old he got called up to the brazils national team for the 1958 World Cup.Pele astonished the entire world by scoring six amazing goal's including two in the championship game. With pelés help, Brazilian teams were becoming really good. NPS -

Pele won the World Cup in 1958 but it wasn’t enough for his collection.In the 1962 World Cup he got a bad injury by tearing his thigh muscle Czechoslovakia which didn’t allow him to continue the World Cup but his team kept the winning score and won the final three to one to Czechoslovakia.which won him the second medal with another trophy.

In 1977 to 1978 Pele retired.When he retired he wrote several books about his life, he also appeared in several movies.He also worked for children's causes.In the 1990s Pele served as Brazils minister of sports for four years.

Peles tragic death
Due to multiple organ failures resulting from the progression of colon cancer associated with his previous medical conditions. Pele sadly died on the 29 December 2022 in the Einstein Israelite Hospital,Sao Paulo,State of Paulo,Brazil.
