    The Japanese had been spying on the United States navy stationed in Pearl Harbor, and their general decided that the best course of action would be to hit with a surprise attack. The goal of this attack was to cripple the United States Navy and limit their ability to take part in WW2.
  • The start of the attack

    The start of the attack
    At 6:10 AM on December 7th, 1941 the USS Minesweeper would see a periscope, at this same time the first wave of Japanese planes would take off of their aircraft carrier about 200 miles away from Oahu. About an hour later at 7:02, a radar station would see unidentified aircraft on their way towards Hawaii. The army would disregard this as they were sure it was just a flight of US bombers returning. At 7:55 AM, the Japanese would start firing upon Hawaii.

    A Lost Battle
    The United States Army, Navy, and limited personnel of Air Force would do what they could, but they were completely caught off guard and were suffering heavy losses of men and military hardware. At 8:10 AM, the USS Arizona would explode. Then, at 8:54 AM, the second wave would begin their attack and about 30 minutes after this the USS Shaw would get blown up in dry dock. After This at 10:00 AM, the Japanese would begin their retreat back to their carries and Japan.
