    A period of time after between the end of the War of 1812 and and the beginning of the Civil War. This movement reflected pacifism which is the belief that violent conflict isnt acceptable and that society should not be ready to fight in a conflict. Call for international court to judge disputes between nations.
  • A Solemn Review of the Custom of War

    A book published by Noah Worcester, who was considered a pioneer in the American Peace movement. A publication meant to help promote peace. It was extensively reprinted in America, England, and Europe throughout the 1912 century.
  • New York Peace Society

    Created after the end of the war of 1812 by David Low Dodge. It produced anti war literature, and in 1828 it merged with several other peace societes to form the first national peace society in the United States, the American Peace Society.
  • Massachusetts Peace Society founded

    Founded by Noah Worcester. It was an anti-war organization in Boston, Massachusetts. 1828- this society also merged with other peace societies to form the American Peace Society.

    It was an anthology produced by the American Peace Society in 1845. It ranks as one of the most remarkable works of anti-war literature ever produced. It was one of a numerous amounts of books and publications produced during this time. Anti war literature emphasised on how contributed to moral decline and brutalization of society.
