Paula Hiers Deen lived at Riverbend(the hotel her grandparents owned) for a small portion of her life. In June of 1953 she moved out of Riverbend and across the street to own a gas station and souvenier shop. They needed space of their own with a new baby on the way. -

Bubba, Paula's younger brother occasionally attends school with Paula. This happens because the babysitter does not show up and they have no other options. Paula loved bringing him there but her grades didn't like it, She had trouble in school. -
Learning Her Love
Paula Deen learns to cook southern-style cuisine from her grandmother. She began to learn in 1960 but really found her love for it during her senior year, though she was busy with friends and cheerleading. Paula was unable to learn from her mother because her mother didn't like sharing the kitchen. -

During Paula's senior year, things changed. Five black women enrolled in her school. It was her first time with these poeple and she didn't know how to react. Today she says she wish she paid more attention to what those girls were feeling because it was right after the Civil rights had ended. -
Paula and Jimmy Deen
Right out of high school, these young lovers get married. Jimmy and Paula get married in June of 1965 right at home in Albany, Georgia. -
Paula Deen Loses her Father
Paula Deen loses her father due to a blod clot around the valve of his heart. She begins to have panic attacks from this death. -

Paula Deen Loses Her Mother
Paula Deen loses her mother in November of 1970. She loses her due to bone cancer which she fought off from the time right after her Dad died until now. -
Bobby Deen
Bobby Deen is born April 28th, 1972 to Jimmy and Paula Deen. He was born in Albany, Georgia. He was the second and last child. -
Divorce
Paula and Jimmy Deen get divorced. They were divorced in Albany, Georgia. They got divorced because Jimmy had an alcohol problem. They were married 27 years. -
Time to Move On.
After the divorce, Paula Deen picks her two sons up from their home in Albany, Georgia and moves to Savannah. They begin a catering business together called "The Bag Lady". -
New Job
Paula Deen and her two sons were highly praised for their catering business. They decided to create a restaurant. It was located in downtown Savannah and opened in January of 1996. -
Food Network
Paula Deen wrote many cookbooks before her first T.V. show. That success led up to gettting her first T.V. show on the Food Network. It was called Afternoon Tea. -

Not My Mama's Meals
Bobby Deen, Paula's second son, creates his own T.V. show. It also takes place in his home. He created this show to make healthier versions of his mother's food. -
Type 2
Paula deen announces she has Type 2 diabetes. She actually developed this in 2009 but decides not to release it until 2012.
