    Paul's First Missionary Journey

    Paul's first missionary journey begins and ends at Antioch, capital of the Roman province of Syria, which became the primary missionary church of earliest Christianity. (Acts 13:1-14:28)

    After reaching the island of Cyprus, Paul and Barnabas begin proclaiming the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews in Salamis with John Mark as their helper. (Acts 13:5)

    Departing Salamis, Paul heads to Paphos where they encountered opposition by a magician, a Jewish false prophet whose name is Bar-Jesus, who tried to lead the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, away from the faith unsuccessfully. (Acts 13:6-12)

    Paul and his companions set sail from Paphos and head to Perga in Pamphylia where John Mark leaves them and heads to Jerusalem. (Acts 13:13)

    After Paul was stoned he and Barnabas leave Lystra heading for Derbe where the gospel is preached, and they make many disciples. (Acts 14:20b-21a)

    Departing Derbe, Paul and Barnabas return to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch where they strengthen the souls of the disciples and encourage them to continue in the faith. (Acts 21b-23)
