about a hundred and fifty years ago our land stared to change because our ancestors started to see white people. -

over the 1890s papunya developed. Anangu took more control over their community -
Long hard years of drought
while life improved in town it became harder for animals to survive in the dessert. in 1920s there was a drought right in the centre. It was hard for them to live in this drought. -
Transport
After the first world war ended, things started to see things moving quickly. In 1921 they got very excited to see the fist aeroplane landed.by the end of decade a train ran. -
Health
In 1926 a man called doctor John Flynn set up a hospital in the town. two years latter Flynn established the flying doctor service. -
Spreading of the gospel
The missionaries went to met their aborignials and they saw how happy they were -
People moved to Papunya
In 1950 the government made a policy this meant that aboriginal people were made to live the way white people do. -
Papunya school starts
In 1960 a school started in Papunya. in those days children had to have a shower and get changed at school. After that they would have to line up to go to school. -
Papunya famous for art
during the 1980s art galleries all over the world started. they told stories on white canvas. Some white people started to understand why the land is so important. -
a new version a Papunya school
By 1992 they were not happy with the teaching at the school. So parents kept their children at home.
The school had too close. After a while the school re opened and got a new printable.
