Hong Kong Flue
Caused by an antigenic drift, originated in Hong Kong before spreading to many other places across the globe. Mortality rate was low over all, but high among the younger population. -
Swine Flu
Similar character to the Spanish Flu, targeting the younger population. 150,000 to 250,000 people died. Spread to 122 countries in 6 weeks. -
Ebola
Emerged in Guinea. Many healthcare workers who volunteered to help, succumbed to the disease. Hypoglycemic/hemorrhagic shock was typically the cause of death. -
COVID-19
Respiratory virus. Originated in China near the end of December, before quickly spreading to the rest of the world by March. Quickly spread due to international travel.
