In 1901 the second Hay-Pauncefote treaty was actually signed. The United States was given multiple rights by Great Britan. The treaty allowed them to open the Canal through Central America. -

In 1902 the US senates voted to help the Panama Canal. The US gave the Panama Canal 40 Millions dollars. Also the US purchased a concession to build the Panama Canal from the French for $40 million. -

In 1903 The Hay-Herran Treaty with Columbia was given to the United States so they could build a canal right through Panama.The treaty promises Colombia $10 million plus $250,000 annually for a zone six miles wide. -
