    Great Britian gives the United States permission to build and operate the Panama Canal.

    Roosevelt hires John Findley Wallace to begin building the canal. Panama is described as "chaotic"(panama canal museum timeline), however they still continue building.

    Roosevelt leaves the US to visit the canal, making him the first president to ever leave the country.

    George Washington Goethals sees the canal and then becomes the first governor of the canal.
