  • Japan Invades Manchuria

    The Japanese invasion of Manchuria began on September 18, 1931, when the Kwantung Army of the Empire of Japan invaded Manchuria. The Japanese declared it a state called Manchukuo, and their occupation their lasted until the end of World War II.
  • Marco Polo Bridge Incident

    The Japanese wanted to search a Chinese town for a lost troop but the Chinese resisted resulting in Japan launching a full scale invasion of China
  • Japan invades Nanking

    Six weeks of Japanese soldiers raping and murdering Chinese civilians, there was up to 300000 Chinese casualties in just six weeks, the abuse continued until late January 1938.
  • Japan Invades Indochina

    Japan occupy Northern Vietnam to stop China's fuel and weapon supply routes. The Allies then freeze Japans assets.

  • Japan Invades Burma

    British forces surrender Singapore after a weeklong siege by the Japanese. Almost 80,000 British, Indian and Australian prisoners of war are taken.
  • Japan Bombs Darwin

    The first Japanese attack on Australia, At least 250 people were killed in the raids.

    80,000 American and Filipino forces surrender to the Japanese in the Philippines.
  • Battle of Midway

    It was a battle that was fought only with aircraft, lasting for three days, this battle was the turning point of the war in the Pacific. The Allies were finally able to halt Japan's expansion in the pacific.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    A series of battles fought in the Japanese Ryukyu Islands, mainly on the island of Okinawa, it was the largest battle in the Pacific war with the Japanese loosing at least 100,000 men and thousands of civilians, and the Allies over 50,000. It spanned from April 1st until June 15 1945.
  • Hiroshima Bombing

    The US dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima, three days later the US also bombed Nagasaki another Japanese city. Fundamentally this was this end of World War Two
  • Japan Officially Surrenders

    Japan formally surrenders to the United States, Great Britain and the Soviet Union by signing the Japanese Instrument of Surrender. It was also signed by the United States of America, the Republic of China, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Soviet Union, Australia, Canada, the French Republic, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and New Zealand.
