Sino-Japanese War
In 1894 Japan had gone into war with China. They had gone into war because Japan wanted to increase it's power in the race for colonies. They wanted to have more land and power. In the end, Japan had taken Taiwan as part of it's colony. China had to pay cash and give Japan the Liaotung Perninsula; the southern tip of Manchuria.This land was very rich and was wanted by both Russians and Japanese. -

The Japanese had defeated the Russians in the Russo-Japanese War, and they were the first and only ones to defeat a European country at that time. The whole of Asia was celebrating about this matter. This war broke out because they wanted they both wanted the precious land that lay in China. Japan and USA trade

Doolittle raid
The US had sent a warning right after pearl harbour to show the Japanese that they will be attacking soon, so they should prepare. Although this was supposed to be a surprise attack, the Japanese had got the signal that there were USA airplanes coming to attack and they sent out a signal to the country. -
