game commissionIn 1895 the came commission created an act creating the Board of Game Commissioners and the Game Commissioners were authorized to appoint 10 game protectors.In 1896 the first Game Commissioners appointed (6 commissioners) began service on November 17. In 1896 November 17 to July 7,1898, Dr. B. H. Warren of West Chester served as first Secretary of Game Commission and on July 8, 1898 to August 10, 1919, Dr. Joseph Kalbfus of Harrisburg served as the second Secretary of Game Commission. -

PA Game Commission O March 9, the General Assembly named brook trout the official state fish of Pennsylvania.In1970 of June 22, All hawks and owls, excepting great horned owls, were protected under the Game Law. Great horned owls had received federal protection in 1972. In 1971 the first Game Commission meeting that was open to the public was held in the month of January. In 1978 the Game Commission designated the Blue Mountain area of southeastern Pennsylvania as the "Kittatinny Ridge Birds of Prey Natural Area." -

Present Game CommissionIn 2010 a law stated that "Hunters using manufactured blinds to take deer, elk and bear must post a minimum of 100 square inches of daylight fluorescent orange within 15 feet of the blind, in addition to wearing orange while in the blind." In 2011, Govener Tom Corbett signed the Senate Bill 274 into law in which it allowed adult mentors to transfer one antlerless deer license per license year to a youth participating in the Mentored Youth Hunting Program.
