Bessemer Process
Bessemer Process was a great revelation that helped convert steel into a better state in order to be more verstile and usable. The process consisted of using air into the steel in order to remove impurities and carbon. This technique was then later used for 90% of the nation’s steel. -
Drilling Oil
In 1859 Edwin L. Drake drilled the ground for oil for the first time. Although oil wasn't used much during the time this first took place, eventually with new inventions being created especially the automoblie. Oil became a very much needed reasoure and drilling for oil became more common. Edwin L. Drake was the first person to successfully use a steam engine to drill oil out from the ground in Titusville, Pennsylvania. Shortly after, and oil-boom swept across the country. -
The Typewriter
In 1867 Christopher Sholes invented the typewriter. This became a powerful and convienent invetion, it was mainly used for office work in corporations and business's. This tool also opened up the idea of women working in the office, their typing skills were very useful during Industrialization -
Railroads completed
Central Pacific and Union Pacific complete the transcontinental railroad. Railroads helped the American Industrialization become so successful because it was a great source of commuting. Goods and people could travel with more ease, heping expansion as well. This was a great rersource to Americans -

Women made up less than 5% of all office workers in 1870 -
The Telephone is invented
In 1876 Alexander Graham Bell invented the telelphone with the help of Thomas Watson. This invention along with the typewriter effected office work and created new job opportunities for women. -
