Oprah grew up in a very low poverty area. At age 9 she was rapped. -

At the age of 14 she found out she was pregnant and gave birth to a stillborn baby. Her mother was also fed up with her and sent her to live with her father in Nashville. -

After having a very rough childhood, Oprah runs away at the age of 13. Her mom then signed her up for detention home. Luckily for Oprah the house was full so she got denied. -

After moving in with her father. He made her education become a huge part in her life. She became an honor student and was really involved in her school. At the age of 17 she wins her first pageant. -

Oprah moves to Chicago. She became the host of WLS-TV half and hour talk morning talk show. -

Once she moved to Chicago and was the host for the morning talk show. That show was then alter renamed as The Oprah Winfrey show. Also expanded to an hour long. -
Oprah Winfrey is found not guilty
During her talk show she talked about mad cow disease. People said her talk on the disease caused the cattle market to crash. Therefore they put her on trial but the court found her not guilty. -
Oprah hosts the Noble Peace Prize Concert
There were many talented performs her sung during the concert. The concert aired all over the United States. -
Named an influential person
Named by Time as one of the 100 most influential people of the year. -
Oprah Interviews Obama
Oprah told Obama that she was his biggest fan. Also that if he would run for president she would continue her talk show. -
Oprah leadership for girls academy of girls opens
Oprah starts a leadership for girls academy in South Africa. She started the academy to give girls and educational and leadership opportunities. They were girls who came from poverty areas. -
Oprah gets her own channel
The Discovery Health channel was turned into OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network. The channel was delayed, launching in 2011. -
Her contract ends
Oprah announces to her fans that once her contract is up in September of 2011 that she will not be going on with her show. -
What she is now doing
Oprah is co-owner of the Oxygen television channel for women. She also has her own magazine (O!) and has published several books.
