    The decision for the invasion of Normandy by Allied forces began in May 1943. Many Allied forces would take part in this conflict such as the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and many others. They would end up developing special technology for this invasion such as artificial ports and specialized tanks. Along with this, they would also employ a large amount of deception tactics to the Germans to make them believe the attack would take plave somewhere else.

    D-Day Begins
    The operation would kick off with the Allied forces going in landing crafts across the English channel to land on the beaches of Normandy. When the forces arrived, the defenses Germany had set up were not as heavy as they could have been (thanks to the allies deception). However, even with that being the case the craft the allies arrived on became a line for the German turret gunners to unload into which caused heavy losses for them upon first landing.

    The Completion of Operation Overlord
    Overtime, the Allied forces would push Nazi Germany and it's allies further and further back. The successful invasion of Normandy would also open up the chance and give them confidence in beginning another invasion into their occupied French allies. The Allies would end up taking some pretty large losses during this operation, but this would ultimately would lead to the downfall of Germany and it's Axis Powers.
