    Battle of Britain
    Nazi Germany attempts to invade Britain with air force. The airbone attacks continue through summer and autumn of 1940. Germany wanted control of the airspace above Britain. Britain was successful in defending it’s own territory and Germany lost the battle. The Battle of Britain officially ended on October 31st 1940.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa
    Germany initiates surprise attack on the Soviet Union on this date. The attack and the entire operation began with the motive of stealing Soviet raw materials. This operation broke the German-Soviet non aggression pact. Germany ended up being forced to retreat and lost the battle. The operation officially ended on December 5th, 1941.
  • Operation Torch

    Operation Torch
    The operation began with Allied forces invading France-controlled Africa on November 8th. It was a three pronged attack on three beaches. They were under control of a US general. US troops quickly pushed forward and the city was then surrendered to the Allies.
    Operation Torch officially ended on November 16th 1942, about 8 days later after it had begun.
  • Operation Overlord

    Operation Overlord
    Overlord was the codename for the Battle of Normandy. It was launched with the famous D-day attacks by Allied forces landing on the beaches of Normandy. An airbone assault was present as well.
    The operation ended on August 30th 1944, roughly 3 months later after it had begun.
  • Yalta Conference

    Yalta Conference
    A conference where the leaders of the USA, Great Britain, and the Soviet Union all came to discuss what to do with the leftover countries after defeating Nazi Germany. All of them, including Stalin, agreed for establishment of democratic governments in Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria. He later broke this agreement and set up Communist governments in all of those places. The Soviet Union occupied those areas, so there was nothing that the USA or Britain could do.
