Joe meets Ross and other friends playing basketball at the courts near Loyal High. -
Joe begins to read Dr. Faustus. (Rising Action)
Joe picks up a book in his room about a man that sells his soul to the devil to gain power. Joe is very intrigued by this book and reads it throughout the story. This book is very influential on Joe later in the story. -
Joe goes to a wild party that Ross is holding. (Rising Action)
Ross is having a before school bash. His parents aren't home so there were beer and cigaretes there. Later that night the party would be busted by the cops and Joe had to be taken home by his parents. His parents told him not to hang out with Ross anymore. -
Joe attends Eastside Acadamy (Rising Action)
Joe and his parents kept on argueing where he wanted to go to school; Joe wanted to attend the public school but his parents badly wanted him to attend Eastside because they wanted him to attend Standford University. Joe wanted to attend the public school because it had a much better basketball team. And thats where his new friend Ross goes to. -
Joes dad Dr. Faust just won the Albert Lasker award (Rising Action)
Joe comes home from school one day and their are reporters and people around his house. His dad is a famous scientist and has just won one of the biggest awards a scientist could win. Joe gets interviewed by a lady and Joe did not have some pleasent things to say about his parents like how they dont have time for him and stuff. -
Joe's interview is published in a magazine. (Rising Action)
Everyone now knows about what Joe said about his parents. Everyone now has a different outlook on his parents because of what Joe had told that reporter. -
Basketball tryouts start for Joe. (Rising Action)
Coach Raible, the varsity coach gives Joe a talk pretty much saying he is going start Joe out with the JV team. Joe a senior does not like that idea. Joe was a great basketball player back in Boston but he just can't find his rythem out there in try outs right now. -
Joe "sells his soul" (Climax)
Joe found an abandon bulding near the city that has a basketball court in it. Joe started going there to shoot after school sometimes. One day after school Joe decides to go shoot. He still struggling in practice. Joe notices the gym appears to be darker than usual after doing some drills and stuff. Joe starts swishing every jump shot. He then says "Give me a full season, give me twenty-four games of this power, and my soul is yours." At that instant Joe had sold his soul to the devil. -
Joe To Varsity (Climax)
After that day in the gym Joe has another meeting with coach and Coach Raible tells him he will be playing for the Varsity team this year after a great practice he had. -
A hero is born. (Climax)
In the first game of the season Joe comes off the bench and leads a comeback in the 4th quarter against Ingraham. Joe felt something he has never felt before during the game. -
The streak continues. (Climax)
Eastside has not lost a game yet during this season. Joe is averageing more then 20 points per game he is playing as good as he has ever played before, he can't believe it. -
Joe's dad gets a heart attack (Climax)
After finals Joe heads home from school. When he gets home he sees and ambulence out in front. His mom tells him his dad has had a heart attack. Joe's dad would survive the heart attack. But it was quite a scare for Joe. -
Joe gets straight A's (Climax)
Joe recieves his grades in the mail and there are straight A's. Even in school the devil is kind of helping him out. -
Joe is getting recruited (Falling Action)
After another great game Joe meets a gentlemen named Roger Bonner he is the assistant basketball coach a Eastern Washington University. They want to recruit Joe to play for them. But with Joes parent's expectations of him attending stanford it doesnt seem possible to play at EWU. -
The Championship game. (Falling Action)
Joes team plays Ross's team Loyal High for the state championship. Joe makes the winning basket as his team wins! -
Future Plans (Rseolution)
Joe and his dad have a talk about his college plans; his SAT score wasn't good enough for Stanford but good enough for EWU.
