    The confederates attacked fort sumter on april,12 1861. Fort sumter was under union control the confederates dident like that it was in there teritory but it was under union control. The confederates had guns pointed at the fort. Lincoln dident give more troops for the battle just more supplies by doing so he dident give in to the confederates. on april 13th the union surrendered. The outcome gives the confederats a first victory in the war and the confederates had the momentum in the war.

    the union made their first attack on the confederates. 35,000 union troops fought. the confederates where geeting beat they were being pushed back by the union but the confedeartes were able to break through the line of the unon and once they did they they were able to win the battle, but the confederates looked sloopy in battle but it gave them the first two wins in the war.

    this battle is the first battle in the civil war that deals with warships. It was an attempt to break the union blockade. the battle is indicicsive which means they dont know who won the battle, but in changed the navy forever. Both ships got destroyed some of the crew members even destoyed there own ships.

    The confederates launched a suprise attack on the union. The confederates early on in the battle were holding their own in battle, but the union were able to force the union forces back leading to the union victory. There was over 23,000 deaths in this battle.
  • Antietam

    on september 17, 1862 Robert E. Lee and George McClellan arrived to the bloodiest one day battle they will ever endure there was about 22,000 casualties. Lee had advanced into antietam creek, maryland and was stopped by McClellan because of the copy of their plan to attack was lost and then founded by a union soldier and they gave it to McClellan. Next was the attacks on what was called later bloody lane. the final attack of the day the union tried to weaken the reinforcements but got stopped.

    The leader of the union had a big force. He moved in to virginia headig the the confederates capital.Lee rushed his troops to dig in positions in the hillside before the majority of the troops from the union arrived. The union were delayed they had to wait for plantoons to arrive so the confederates were able to get a strong position. The union lost over double the men the confederates did and the union lost the battle. It was curshing the union had their number in people.

    The confederates were out numbered by twice there size so the confederaes split there troops in half. the confederates suprised the union with a suprise attack. it is know as the best defensive attact in the civil war by the the confederaes. They dident lose as men as the union and were still able to come away with a victory. and the path now would leave a path to gettesburgh.

    troops for both sides were arriving day and night of july 1st 1863. on july 2nd the union held positions from culp's hill to cemetery ridge the confederates didnt get thier men into position until 4pm when the union wanted to attack as early as possible by the end of the day they both suffered 9000 or more casualties. on day 3 the union flanked the confederates on all sides and the north lost 2/3 and the south lost 1/2 of their men.

    They were battiling over the railroad in Chattanooga. By mid semtember the union forces finnaly pushed the confederates back, but the confederate forces got reinforcments and so the confedearates decided they would go on the offense and attack the union after survivng intial attacks by the union.The confederates split there army in two forces to attack the union from two sides forcing the union to retreat.Later the next the confederats with reinforcmetn were able to take Chickamagua later.

    There were a few days of fighting in this battle. The president put one man in control of all the union armys, he wanted to make one large attack and get to the capital of the confederates. The first night of battle there was no winner they were fighting but all the trees got in the way alot of soldiers were made prisoner. On the second day the union lost 17500 men but they kept on moving they wanted to get to the crossword first but lee and his army beat them there

    The union had two forces one was to keep lees army busy while the other moved forward to virginia. it was one of the bloodiest battles fought. 18,000 Union soldiers died, and 11,000 confederate soldiers died. The confederates tried to make a stand but the union was too strong and their gelerals was wounded. Lees army tired to fight back again but once again the union forced lee back and to surrender that battle.

    it was one of the last forts the confederates had under there control, if they lost it the union would have control of the whole river in would divide the confederates in half. the confederates did all they could to try and keep control of it but in the end they had to surrender vicksburgh and pretty much would lose the war over this battle
  • Petersburg

    this is and important rail center for the confederates, the union wanted to take it over. In this atteempt lee the general for the confederates only had a few more spots under his cotnrotl. the union desrtoyed the railroads and had the confederates out numbered, this forced lee to surrender. and put an end to the war
  • Sherman's March

    The union took over atlanta which was a big railroad city, This forced the confederates out and they headed to tennesee and alabama and they attacked union supply lines on the way. The union general used a form a fighting called total war fare. This war fare was meant to destroy everything that belonged to the confederates. Once they were succesful at this it would pretty much end the war.
  • Lincolns assasination

    for weeks john wilkes booth had been making plans to kidnap lincoln and take him to richmond the confederate capital. that plan failed however because lincoln never showed up where booth waas gonna cature him. 2 weeks later lincoln was at the ford theater in washington dc watching "our american cousin" when at 10:15 booth snuck into the booth and shot lincoln in the back of the head with a .44 derringer. on april 26 the union army surrounded his hideout and set it on fire.
