    Phillip was born.
    Phillip was born to a single working mother Judy. She often worked long hours so his grandma took care of him.
    In Erikson's first stage, basic trust vs. mistrust, the crisis is between the emphasis of the mother's nurturing ability to care for a child, in terms of visual contact and touch. The child if properly cared for will grow up with optimism, trust, confidence and security. If a child does not experience trust, he may develop insecurity, worthlessness, and general mistrust of the world.
  • Preschool Phillip

    Phillip is now five years old, he has just started his first day at his new preschool. He was scared and clinging to his mother, but eventually calmed down throughout the day.
    In Erikson's third stage, initiative vs. guilt, the crisis is between the desires of children to copy the adults around them and take initiative in creating play situations.
  • Young Phillip

    Young Phillip
    Phillip is now 25 years old and has begun his first real relationship.
    In Erikson's sixth stage, intimacy and solidarity vs. isolation, the crisis is between young adults seeking deep intimacy and satisfying relationships, but if unsuccessful, isolation may occur.
  • Mid-Life Crisis Phillip

    Phillip is now 50 years old and has never been married. He is close to retiring and lives alone but is starting to face his first mid-life crisis.
    In Erikson's seventh stage, generativity vs. self absorption or stagnation, the crisis is that major life shifts can occur during this stage, some may struggle with finding purpose and people often work to establish or attempt at producing something that makes a difference to society.
