    Paper
    Paper was invented by Ancient Egyptians in 4000 BC and comes from the word “papyrus”. Paper was used by the Ancient Egyptians to write things down and is still used to write think to this day .Paper isn't entirely obsolete yet but it is a lot less used now then it was before due to the fact that now we have new technologies to substitute the jobs of paper like Emails, Notes, Drawing, etc.

    Paper Maps
    The first ever paper map was created in 546 BCE and they were always popular among different European settlers to help find there ways across the world. paper maps are still used to this day but are not very commonly found aside from certain amusement parks and local tourist attractions.
  • Newspaper classifieds

    The first known newspaper with a dedicated classified ad section was the Boston News-Letter, established in 1704 and they were used so that people could know what jobs are hireing and how many jobs need people. They popular for a long time up until the late 1850s and Early 1860s. i think newspaper classifieds became obsolete is because not many people went to go get jobs after seeing the ads and that it was a waste of ink to dedecate a whole section of the newpaper for it.

    the first picture was developed in the year 1826 by a French photographer named Joseph Nicéphore Niépce and it became very popular to use in the early 1880s. developing pictures became non existent in the late 1920s because of the introduction colored pictures.

    the first ever landline phone was invented in 1876 and they were very popular up until the first wireless phone was made in 1973. they were used to make phone calls so that you could talk to family and friends. It became obsolete because in 1973 the first wireless phone was invented and there was no need to use wired phone anymore
  • Phone Books

    Phone Books
    Phone books were used to store important phone numbers of friends, family, businesses, etc. the first phone book was published on February 21, 1878 and it was the most popular in 1996. On October 14, 2010 they stopped publishing phone books .My theory as to why they stopped publishing phone books is because as cellphones became more popular the call feature was used more and eventually you could just look up and find a number in your contacts list on your phone.

    The first ever record store was opened in 1894 by a man named Henry Spiller and the store was named Spillers Records. Record stores were used to sell record so that people could listen to music and was at its peek in the 1960s and 1970s. the reason it became obsolete is because people started to listen to music virualy through apps like itunes and Spotify and record stores were closed on june 30, 2007 but they can still be found so people could collect record as decorations or make collections.

    The first email was first created on October 29, 1969 and they were very popular in the 1990s and payable emails eventually became free in the year 1996. they were used for companies to make money off of people sending emails. I think the reason it became obsolete is because lots of people were complaining that they had to pay for their email and they couldn't pay it sometimes when they needed to send important emails.

    Blockbuster was a popular video rental store in the United states and Canada . It opened up on October 10, 1985 and was very popular during after it opened more stores nation wide in 2004. Blockbusters very last location was closed March 2019. My theory on why they became obsolete is because people didn't need to rent our physical copies of movies because of new streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Disney Plus that let you watch movies after buying a subscription.

    The first every Smartphone with a home button was the Simon Personal Communicator and was announced in 1992 but wasn't available until 1994. Smartphone are a very popular device that I'm sure everyone has but as of the year 2017 companies such as apple and Samsung have started making phones without a home button. My theory as to why they stopped adding home buttons are because they wanted to add more space for the screen so that they could market bigger screens.
