Paper maps are used for finding your way to your destination. The first paper map was created in 600 BCE by the Greek academic Anaximander. This was most popular anytime people were traveling because it was the way of getting around. This item has become obsolete because GPS (Global Positioning System) is in most cars nowadays so you don't have to bring around paper maps.

Paper was created to write on so they didn't have to write on the wall and paper was portable. This was created in 600 BC and became a hit right from the get-go, but has been becoming obsolete because a lot of work is now being done online. This is quickly becoming gone because of the creation of Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, and PowerPoint.

These were created to hand out to people so they know the news that is going on in the city and the world. This was introduced in 1566 and has kept coming since. These were popular because this is where you get the news. These are becoming obsolete because they are creating newspapers online so people can see them on their technology.

Landline's

The landline's purpose was to be able to call someone before the iPhone was invented. This was invented in 1876. This invention was most popular in the 70's. This product has not been obsolete yet but they are quickly going away. They are going away because mobile phones are taking over. After all, they are way better than landlines.

Phonebooks

Phone books were used to store everyone's phone numbers so when you have to make a call you can open the book up and look for their number. This was an efficient way of calling people. The phone book was invented in 1878 and became the most popular in 1954. This item became obsolete in 2010 when the iPhone became more popular and the contacts app in the phone replaced it.

Public Payphones

The Public payphone was used to make calls when you were not at home. This was created in 1889 because they needed a method of calling people when they weren't at home at their landline. they were popular throughout until the flip phone and the cell phone were created and that is why these phones became obsolete.

Record Stores

Record stores were created to hold CDs and records for people to buy and rent. These stores were created in 1894, and they became popular in the 60's and 70's. These stores went into business around 2000 because other apps came out that did what they did better.

VCR

1956

VCRs were created to play videos or play songs. These were created in 1889. These were popular because before this there were no ways of playing things for people to watch. these became obsolete around the late '90s and early 2000s right after DVD recorders and other digital video recorders dropped rapidly in price.

Blockbuster

1985

Blockbuster was a movie/show-based store where many people went to buy or rent movies for some time. October 19, 1985, it started, it was most popular in 2004, and it became obsolete in 2010-2014 when it went bankrupt and closed its final stores. This became obsolete because there were companies like Netflix and Disney + that came around and they were way better and at a cheaper price.

Buttons on phones

2007

This product was invented on January 9, 2007, it was the first iPhone model and the first smartphone designed and marketed by Apple Inc. This iPhone had the iconic button on it and its purpose was to open the phone, and if that wasn't on it you couldn't open your phone. It was until they found an alternate way of doing it called FACE ID. This was made in 2017 for the iPhone X and that made the button obsolete.
