    In 1942, Naomi stopped looking for her doll that she lost, this represented her mother and she stopped waiting for her mother to come back, she grew up and realized that her mother left her.

    Grandma Nakane passing away was Naomi's first experience was someone close to her passing away. This prepared her for any death of people close to her in the future.

    When out in the water with Kenji, Naomi almost drowns and would have if rough lock Bill hadn't saved her. This might have caused her to be more cautious and appreciate life more.

    When Canada won the war, Naomi was excited because she thought she was gonna be able to go back home, when she was told that they were not going home she was confused and sad

    In early autumn 1945, after Naomi had been hearing negative things about her father and his health, he returns which was a huge relief on Naomi to know that hew was okay.

    On a day in 1950, Naomi faces the biggest loss in her life,her father, she now had to deal with the mourning of losing the person that was closest to her
