Denmark surrenders to Germany
Denmark was small and undefended. -
German Officials make a "Final Solution" to the "Jewish Question"
Officals in German Goverment decide that Jews will be taken to con- centration camps. Their they will be worked to deatah or murdered.
Note: Millions of Jews were killed in gas chambers. -
King Christian rides through the streets every morning
The Danes loved their King. He greeted them everymorning and they greeted him -
The Danes sink their own navy
When the Germans came to take over the ships, the Danes sunk them. -
Jewish Button Shop closes
Mrs. Johansen starts worrieing and checks with Mrs.Rosen. Mrs. Rosen says she doesn't think It will affect her. -
Peter comes to visit
When Peter comes he tells the Johansens that the germans orderd to close many Jewish stores. (stores run by Jews) -
Rabbi tells Jews at synagogue they are going to be relocated by germans
On Jewish New Year, the rabi told the Jews in copenhagen at the synagogue that they were going to be relocated. The Jews were going to be taken away by the Germans. -
Kristi gets new shoes
When Mama buys Kristi new shoes made out of fish skins Kristi has a tantrum. But Ellen and Annemarie convince her that its better than nothing. Ellen tells her she will paint them black for her. (There is no leather anymore) -
Ellen spens the night at the Johansens's house
.Ellen stays over at their house to act as their daugter. Her parents have gone somewhere safe. If any Germans come she will act like Annemarie's sister -
German Soilders come in the middle of the night
The Germans came to make sure they weren't hiding any members of the Rosen family. Papa showed him a photograph of Lise when she was young to show them her dark hair. The trick worked and they left. -
Annemarie, Ellen, Kristi, and Mama visit Uncle Henrik
Most of the Johansen family and Ellen visit Uncle Henrik. They go there so that he can take Ellen's family and others to Sweden. -
The Funeral
There is a "funeral" at Uncle Henrik's house for Great Aunt Birte. It actualy is where the Jews gathered to eat and get warm clothes before they take thier long journey to Sweden. -
Annemarie takes package to her Uncle
She runs into a soilder on the way but she makes it to her uncle. She gives him the important package. -
Uncle Henrik tells Annemarie how brave she is
He tells her she was brave even if she didn't know it. -
The War Ends!
Annemarie was 12. Everyone sang and wept. The Danish flag was hung everywhere -
Papa fixes Ellen's necklace
