    This is a timeline of real events and events from the book Number the Stars during WWII.
  • The first Nuremberg Laws passed in Germany

    The Nuremberg Laws were laws in Germany that revoked citizenship from Jews and prohibited them from marrying non-Jews
  • Japan and Germany sign a military agreement

    Japan and Germany become allies in the war.
  • All Jews eliminated from the German economy

    The German pass a law removing all Jewish people from their economy.
  • Germany takes over another country

    The Germans invade Poland from the West.
  • France and Britain declare war on Germany

    Britain declares war on Germany at 11AM and 6 hours later, France does the same.
  • Denmark surrenders to Germany

    Denmark surrendered to Germany because of their small army.
  • The Germans attack Kirsti thought they were fireworks not bombs

    The Germans attack Kirsti thought they were fireworks not bombs
    Mama told Kirsti that the bombs were fireworks for her birthday.
  • Annemarie discovers what the resistance is

    Annemarie discovers what the resistance is
    Papa tells explained that the resistance was Danish people bringing harm to the Nazis however they could.
  • Ellen and her family go to celebrate Rosh Hashanah

    The Rabbi tells all the Jews at the Synagogue that the Germans are rounding up the Jews for relocation and they have a list of names and that's when the Johansens take Ellen in.
  • German soldiers come and investigate the Johansens appartment

    While hiding Ellen, German soldiers come and bother the Johansens while they are sleeping to investigate. They almost took Ellen but they didn't. That's when the Johansens decided to take Ellen to Uncle Henrik's house in the country.
  • The Johansens go to Uncle Henrik's house

    Mama and the girls ride a train to the house and they stay away from German soldiers
  • Ellen's parents come and a few other Jews.

    Peter comes with some Jewish people and a casket. They lie to Annemarie and tell her that her Great Aunt Birdie Is in there even though it's blankets and clothes.They tell her later though.
  • German soldiers make another unpleasant visit.

    They intrude and ask who is in the casket. Mama replies and the officer slaps her after she said something snarky.
  • Peter helps the Jews

    They hand out blankets and take them to a boat. Including Ellen and her parents. The next day mama is hurt but Annemarie has to take a package to Uncle Henrik as fast as she can. She gets there, but is stopped by Germans on the way. She barely escapes them but she does. She gave Uncle Henrik his package and he smuggled Ellen and the others to Sweden.
  • The end

    The end
    The war is over and everyone is happy. There is a big parade and everyone cheers. Annemarie hopes that she will see Ellen again.
