This was a tariff past by Congress that had to the goal of growing domestic industry by raising the prices on imports. In the end, it resulted in a big increase in resentment toward the North from the South, because this overwhelmed the South. -
South Carolina Exposition and Protest
It protest that was a response to the tariff of abominations. Going back to the idea that the states had the right to reject federal law. Resulted in Vice President John C. Calhoun writing the South Carolina Exposition and Protest, stating the tariff of abomination as unconstitutional and further stating the nullification doctrine. -

Declared both tariff present before in 1828 and 1832 tariffs unconstitutional, null, and void. It was based on the nullification doctrine made by President John C. Calhoun. A statement that the South were closer to separating from the Union. -
Nullification Proclamation
A proclamation with the main declaration that the states have no right to nullify a federal law. In response to the Ordinance Nullification. This made tensions rise and make a civil war seem to be in reach of happening. -
The Force Bill
This bill gave the President the right to be able to use military force to collect import duties, tariffs, and taxes, if a state doesn't comply. This resulted int the preservation of the union. -
Compromise Tariff of 1833
This Compromise Tariff of 1833 made all tariffs that have rates above 20 percent, would be reduced by one-tenth every two year. Resulting in the end of the Nullification Crisis because this lower unwanted strain on the South. -
South Caroline Repeals the Nullification Ordinance
After the Compromise Tariff of 1833, the South had agreed to repeal the Nullification Ordinance, making the Nullification Crisis come to an end, and both sides be able to see value in the decision.
