Marianne and Connor are teenagers.
Marianne is very smart but unpopular, and Connor is popular but have a low economic status. They start to flirt, but at school they don't have any kind of relationship. -

Trinity College
Later, they coincide at the same college. Now Marianne have friends and a popular boyfriend, and these people despise Conell because his low economic situation. -

Casual relationship
Marianne breaks up with her boyfriend and, she and Connell start having a casual relationship. Everything goes well until Connell can't pay his rent so, ashamed, he didn't tell her and that creates a confussion situation that ends with their relationship. -

Summer
Summer arribes. Marianne starts dating a guy (that was in love with her), named Jamie. At the same time, Connell starts dating Helen. In these summer, they decided go traveling with their friends (Connell and Marianne), trought Europe. At one of those trips, Connell tries to kiss Marianne (after she and Jaime had an argument), but she stops him. -

Sweden
Time after, Marianne is studying in Sweden, and dating a guy named Luka, who likes to tie her and take pictures of her too. Until she realizes that she doesn't have feelings for him and dumps him. -

Depresion
While Marianne is in Sweden, Connell is going to therapy because one of his friends comitted the suicide. That makes him want to write, and publishes a short story. -

After Sweden
When Marianne come back from Sweden, she and Connell start seeing each other. At one point, she askes him to hit her (because all of her previous relationships), but he refuses.
Marianne brother keeps hurting her, until Connell threatens to kill him if he ever do that again. -

The final
They have been dating for a long time, but one day, a New York college offers a scholarship to Conell, at first he wouldn't accept it, but after a while, he and Marianne decide that the best is that he go and she stay.
