Chomsky's theory of Universal Grammar
Noam Chomsky proposed the theory that grammar is an innate aspect within the human brain and that is something that is easily transferrable from one language to another. Chomsky's lectures at the University of California, Berkley are published as Language and Mind
After Chomsky publishes his lectures from his time teaching at the University of California, Berkley, there was in-fighting that occurred as a result. There was intellectual disagreement between Chomsky's theories within the linguistic community, and this resulted in there being new theories contending against each other opposed to Chomsky's.
