Noam Chomsky's Education
Owing to his hardworking Jewish immigrant parents, Chomsky had very little difficulty when it came to higher levels of education. He initially attended the University of Pennsylvania in 1945 but later moved to Harvard University (1951) where he worked on his doctoral dissertation. -
Chomsky's Linguistics
Noam Chomsky proposed a radical new theory, that all humans have the same capability to learn and process language regardless of societal background. He did so through his first book "Syntactic Structures" written in 1960. -
Vietnam War and Chomsky's Dissent
US involvement in the Vietnam War officially began in 1961 and would last to 1973. In 1967, Chomsky wrote the "Responsibility of the Intellectuals" a critique of the US intervention in Vietnam. His antiwar activism eventually led to multiple arrests and political retaliation. -
