At age 28, Tesla immigrated to the United States and later moved to New York and remained there for the rest of his years. Also, at this time he began working with Thomas Edison and made many improvements to Edison's DC electrical designs. -
Tesla leaves Edison
Tesla stopped working with Edison after being promised $50,000 for creating more efficient dynamos. When Tesla did what he was prompted, he asked for the money, Edison explained he was only joking and would not give him the money. Tesla immediately resigned. -
Tesla Creates the Tesla Electric Company
The only way Tesla was able to do this was because of George Westinghouse of the Westinghouse Electric Company. Westinghouse paid Tesla $1 million for the 40 some patents of his alternating current system. But when Westinghouse attempted to use this system all across the U.S.A, he didn't have the financial power. So to compensate, Tasla sacrificed 12 million dollars in unpaid royalties to let Westinghouse do this. -
Tesla invents the Tesla Coil
Tesla creates the Tesla Coil, which is still used today in radio technology. -
The Failed Wanderclyffe Project
Tesla began work on a project called Wanderclyffe. It was supposed to provide free electricity and communication for the world, very crazy indeed. He had some funding from financial titan J.P. Morgan. But Morgan stopped his funding and Wanderclyffe stopped. -
Tesla Refuses Nobel Prize
Tesla was awarded the Nobel Prize but turned it down because it was awarded to both himself and Thomas A. Edison; instead the Peace Prize went to the Swedish scientist Gustav Dalen. -
Nikola Tesla's Death
One of the saddest days in history. He died in NewYork, New York. Afterwards, F.B.I agents opend the safe in his room and found out Tesla had ideas of a warfare weapon.
