    Born in Copenhagen, Denmark Neil was born into a family of 6 as the middle child. he was born to a prominent family. Mother the daughter of a jewish banker.   • 1908 academy days

    Neil at 23 won a prize from the academy of sciences for solving the problem of surface tension by means of oscillating fluid jets. His paper was published in the transactions of the royal society. His studies and early work were mainly theoretic in character. His doctor disputation being purely theoretic piece of work on explanation of properties of the metals with aid of electron theory.
  • 1922 Nobel prize

    In 1913-1914 Bohr held a Lectureship in Physics at Copenhagen University and in 1914-1916 a similar appointment at the Victoria University in Manchester. In 1916 he was appointed Professor of Theoretical Physics at Copenhagen University, and since 1920 (until his death in 1962) he was at the head of the Institute for Theoretical Physics, established for him at that university. 1922 he was awarded the Nobel peace prize for contributions on the atom structure.

    during these times he was the head of the physics, established for at the university of Copenhagen. As nazis came in Bohr fled his home to Sweden. worked on the Manhattan project which produced some of the worlds first nuclear weapons.
  • 1950 UN Letter

    1950 UN Letter
    Sent letter to the UN wanting free exchange of scientific and technolgical information as critical to creating the basis for peaceful cooperation between nations. 1955 he organized first atoms for peace conference in Geneva.
  • 1962 His death

    Bohr returned to his home.His last works were focused on molecular biology also a touch on the problem of life which was published after his death in Copenhagen.
