    The birth of my nephew
I had experienced quite a bit of loss up until this point in my life, however, God brought me through it and sent my amazing nephew to me. His name is Jayden Rylee and he is the most amazing thing that could ever happen to me. He is the reason I wanted to pursue a career in teaching early childhood.
  • Joining cheerleading

    Joining cheerleading
As a sophomore in high school, I realized I didn't really fit in anywhere until I joined cheerleading. I made lifelong friends and sisters and enjoyed being a leader within my cheer squad teaching cheer clinics for pre-kindergarten through sixth grade.
  • My mentor

    My mentor
My junior and Senior year I had a teacher who really changed my life. His name was Dale Royse and really validated my reasoning for wanting to become a teacher. I was his teacher's aide and he was there to help me with things that my parents were not able to, like fill out scholarship applications and college applications. I graduated with honors that year and he made me realize how important teaching is. I want to be able to change students lives like he did mine.
  • Starting at Shawnee State

    Starting at Shawnee State
Shawnee State University was my grandmother's college. She graduated from there and became a registered nurse. She raised me after my parents passed, up until she got cancer my first year at Shawnee. That was when I knew I had to finish out and get my degree at Shawnee State and follow in my grandmothers footsteps.
  • Starting Phonics

    Starting Phonics
As I start my sophomore year, I am excited to see what my future holds for me as becoming a teacher. I hope that I can teach my students all the things that I was taught and include all the important things that I acquire during my time within this phonics, vocabulary, and spelling class.
