    September 15, 1821: Nicaraguan Independence from Spain
    Having witnessed the violence of other Latin American revolutions for independence, the Nicaraguan plan was to negotiate with the foreign entities in charge of the territory. Political leaders in the region came together and wrote the Act of Independence, which was submitted and recognized in September of 1821.
