The first ever helmet made for football was constructed out of leather. used in the 1920's -
The second ever football helmet made
This helmet was introduced in the 1930's to early 1940's, this had a harder leathermaking it only a little better then it's counterpart. At the same time they started putting logos on the helmets. -
Other types of helmets during the time
In the year 1951, some teams were trying out other types of helmet colors trying to find their colors for their team. -
The prototype for the years to come
by 1951 they were starting to test out the plastic helmets but they were only prototyped, not fully worked out yet. -
Almost finished prototype
During this time they in 1954 it was nearly complete with the type of helmet that would come out a year later. This type of helmet would have a plastic facemask. -
The third ever football helmet
during the 1950's to early 1960's they had introduced plastic helmets this being better then both counterparts combine. -
The fourth ever helmet created
throughout the 1970's to early 1980's they had started to introduce a new football helmet this football helmet would have more rings on the facemask making it safer for players heads -
The fifth ever helmet created
Up until 2011, the helmets that were made in the 1980's were being used. Then in 2012, they had introduced another type of helmet that was, even more, safer than the one that was being used from the 1980's to 2011. It was 10x's better the the ones that came berfore the ones made in the 1980's. -
To Present Day
Since the Randell helmets came out in 2012 the NFL has been using these types of helmets ever since.
