The polynesian people first set foot on NZ. -

Abel Tasman made a rediscovery of NZ
Although he never made it ashore, as there was a conflict in Golden Bay (Murderers Bay) which killed 4 Europeans and 1 maori as a result of a misunderstanding. -

He first arrived on the Endeavor where he made landfall at Poverty bay. -
Marion du Fresne
Was another french eplorer to visit NZ in 1772, the Maori ended up killing him and 25 of the french, whilst the French retaliated killing at least 250 local maori. -

William and Ann Whaling ship
The first industry was whaling and arrived in1791. -
Sealers
Similar to whaling the sealers arrived and mostly took place in remote areas with large seal populations. -
First sealing ship
Arrived in 1804, called the Britannia, and an american sealer found foveaux straight. -
Anglican Missionarys arrived.
The first missionaries arrived,Samuel Marsden and Thomas Kendall. -
British Navy Ships
They visited the Bay of Islands, Whangaroa, and Thames for the first time in 1820. -
Flax trade
The boat Fancy visited thames to collect flax for indian navalboats. A flax and timber trade began in 1827. -
Population of 300
In 1830 there was an estimated Population of 300 Europeans in NZ
