    Ram Dass Becoming Founder

    Ram Dass, founder of the Hanuman Foundation, was born on April 6, 1931, and grew up to become an American spiritual teacher, psychologist, and author.
  • Ram Dass Reaching India

    After reaching India, Ram Dass became the founder of the Hanuman Foundation through his experience with Hindu Discipline. Being the founder, he first started the foundation by hosting charities and retreats.
  • The start of the Hanuman Foundation

    After travelling to India, Ram Dass worked with other spiritual seekers to start up the foundation and create religious movements inside of the religion itself.
  • Growing the Hanuman Foundation

    At this time, the foundation was able to initiate the Prison-Ashram project, which is now called the Human Kindness Foundation, which focused on the spiritual well-being of society.

    Ram Dass started to teach workshops at the foundation about conscious aging and death. This allowed him to create the Dying Project, which was a facility in which people could come to die "consciously."

    In February of 1997, Ram Dass had a stroke, which he interpreted as an act of grace. After recovering, he stayed in Hawaii and still talked at small venues while still being part of the Foundation.

    In 2013, Ram Dass releases a memoir explaining everything he learned while his experience with practicing religion and being part of the Hanuman Foundation. He states that he is aging now and doesn't know when he'll die. With this, he explains that the foundation show live on.
